There’s a Right Way to Fail

By: Kristin Martineau | May 2, 2019

How can failing be right?

Because it’s necessary if you want to grow.

It requires tolerating discomfort.

Man, failing is painful.  I should know. I do it a lot.

I’m willing because it’s the failure that shows me the way.

I have a list on my office wall that’s numbered to 100. Every time I fail, I write it on the list.

I like watching that list fill up.  It means I’m doing it.

I’m taking massive action toward my dreams and making lots of mistakes along the way.

Every failure is a brick in the road to success.

I’m getting better at learning to fail the right way.

There have been times in my life that I have failed the wrong way.

I failed ahead of time by not even trying.

I wanted to avoid feeling rejected, embarrassed, stupid, so I never even tried.

Then I realized that those feelings can’t really do anything to me.

I can feel them and be fine.

Besides, not trying feels pretty bad too.

I might as well choose a discomfort that creates a life I love.
